Confined Space Solutions Programs

Asset Management Solutions

Take control of your critical equipment

Our confined space solutions program brings organization, access, visibility, and control to your critical lifesaving equipment. The program can be customized to meet your specific product needs, backed by the service of our local branch and the expertise of our regional safety experts.

  • Establish product-specific controls, limiting access to only trained, authroized employees
  • Create accountability through an automated check-in/check-out process, connecting each asset to the most recent user
  • Receive alerts when equipment needs to be taken out of service for inspection, calibration, bump testing, or re-certification
  • Leverage critical reporting to govern compliance

Fall Protection

Each authorized entrant shall use a chest or full body harness, with a retrieval line attached at the center of the entrant’s back near shoulder level, above the entrant’s head or at another point which the employer can establish presents a profile small enough for the successful removal of the entrant. Wristlets may be used in lieu of the chest or full body harness if the employer can demonstrate that the use of a chest or full body harness is infeasible or creates a greater hazard and that the use of wristlets is the safest and most effective alternative.

Fall protection is critical when going into a confined space as a rescue system as well as a fall arrest system when working as part of a confined space team. Confined spaces are dangerous places that require planning and preventative measures to ensure the safety of everyone that is working inside as well as around a confined space opening.

Gas Detection

The atmosphere within a confined space must be tested using equipment that is designed to detect the chemicals that may be present at levels that are well below the defined exposure limits. Evaluation testing is done to:

  • Determine what chemical hazards are or may become present in the space’s atmosphere
  • Identify what steps must be followed and what conditions must be met to ensure that atmospheric conditions are safe for a worker to enter the space

Gas Detection Rental Program

Renting gas detection for your short-term needs keep expense, such as maintenance, low. By renting from Fastenal, via our preferred supplier network, you will receive high-quality, dependable gas monitors without a large capital expenditure.

Respiratory Protection

Respiratory hazards can exist in various forms at general industry worksites. They may be gases, vapors, dusts, mists, fumes, smoke, sprays, and fog. Some of these substances can make you sick or kill you if you breathe them in. Certain respiratory hazards act quickly, like carbon monoxide - an invisible, odorless gas - which can make you unconscious or kill you in minutes. Other respiratory hazards can take years to make you sick, like asbestos, which can cause lung cancer years or even decades after you breathe it in. More examples of respiratory hazards in general industry include, but are not limited to:

  • Dusts - such as those found when adding dry ingredients to a mixture.
  • Metal - fumes from welding, cutting, and smelting of metals.
  • Solvent vapors - from spray coatings, adhesives, paints, strippers, and cleaning solvents.
  • Infectious agents - such as tuberculosis bacteria in healthcare settings.
  • Chemical hazards - such as chlorine gas and anhydrous ammonia in chemical processing and use operations.
  • Sensitizing vapors or dusts - such as isocyanates, certain epoxies, and beryllium.
  • Oxygen deficiency - which might be found in confined spaces.
  • Pharmaceuticals - during the production of prescription drugs.

Confined Spaces Training Program

Confined Spaces Training ProgramThe focus of this course is confined space entry, egress and rescue training. It is designed for entry supervisors, entrants, & attendants. The course involves both classroom presentations as well as a high degree of hands-on scenarios that will require attendees to actively participate in confined space and rescue applications. The training utilizes pre-engineered rescue systems and techniques that are easily adaptable to both team and peer rescue. It should be noted that this is not a technical rope rescue course. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will receive a certificate acknowledging they have met or exceeded OSHA, ANSI and CSA requirements.

This training focuses on the roles specified in 1910.146 (for example, authorized entrants, attendants, entry supervisors) and for the specified roles insures that workers are trained to sections (g) and (h) effectively. Cost Per Training/Service - $1200 (travel not included) courses held in Red Wing, MN and Houston, TX.
