Fastenal's Supply Chain Diversity program establishes strategic alliances with small businesses serving as authorized channels of distribution for Fastenal's products and services.
Fastenal's 1st tier program features strategic partners with a wide range of manufacturing, distribution and service capabilities as well as a full complement of supplier diversity certifications including:

- Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)
- Woman-owned Business (WOB)
- Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran owned business (SDVSB)
- HUB Zone business (HUB )
As an authorized reseller the full line of Fastenal's fasteners and industrial supplies are available for purchase. Some resellers are stocking distributors, others are service providers with agreements for Fastenal to provide logistics & distribution services in support of their customer's requirements. All minority-owned authorized resellers are the vendor of record - responsible for contract negotiations, pricing, invoicing and accounts receivable management.
In 2004 Fastenal entered into a business mentoring agreement with Wells Technology, a Native American owned manufacturer of high precision fasteners and machined parts located in Bemidji, MN. In May 2006 the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) approved Fastenal and Wells Technology to participate in the SBA Mentor / Protege program. In 2009 Wells Technology was awarded Small Business Person of the Year by the Minnesota District of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and was recognized by President Barack Obama at the White House. Also, in 2009 Wells Technology was awarded Outstanding Hub Zone Corporate Citizen of the Year by the Hub Zone National Contractors Council in Washington, D.C.
