Keep Cool
Did you know that heat is the #1 weather-related cause of fatalities? Here are some tips to stay cool, hydrated and healthy in hot work environments*
- Know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses; monitor yourself and co-workers
- If possible, block out direct sun or other heat sources; use cooling fans/air conditioning
- Rest regularly
- Drink lots of water or sports beverage -- about 1 cup every 15 minutes
- Wear lightweight, light colored, loose fitting clothes and a hat for sun protection
- Avoid alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and heavy meals
- Use SPF-15 or higher sunscreen
Stay Safe
Leading hazards at construction sites*
- Falls: Consistently account for the greatest number of fatalities in the construction industry. If you have employees that work 6' or more above a lower level, you must provide fall protection.
- Electrical: Has long been recognized as a serious workplace hazard. Fastenal can provide products to help prevent electric shock and fires on the job site.
